Fighting the good fight against organized religion, organized society, and at times just organization. Lenny Bruce is not based so much on instantly quotable material. But rather, it’s more of a hybrid of pure humor (satire, non-sequitor, traditional build up, punchline) and off-humor elements (maniacal brilliance, staggering phonetic abilities). Lenny Bruce is a musician whose instrument is comedy and his own voice. You don’t have to agree with his conclusions, or even follow comedy, to appreciate his greatness. But it doesn’t hurt. It’s really a shame more people aren’t aware of Lenny Bruce.
- Originals (volume one)
This is a fantastic collection of bits from original releases having an overall musical theme. These are studio recordings. [why don't you mash someone your size?] [i'll see you around, if you believe] [i'm dumb in hell, i don't know how much a whole lotta nines are]
- Originals (volume two)
This CD differs from the first one in that it's live excerpts rather than studio bits. [my trip to miami] [i can't tell you, come in here] [bronchitis]
- To Is A Preposition Come Is A Verb
Short, but very sweet. [i just do it] [i'd kill you for that] [fag show] [he said bla bla bla] [dirty toilet]
- The Berkley Concert
Great performance. Sadly, this CD seems to be out of print.
- Live At Carnegie Hall
2 CD's, so it has twice as much humor. It's not fair. [beginning of the season] [dear abbey]
- The Curran Theatre
Haven't really listened to this yet, because I can't stop listening to the ones I bought first.
- Live! Busted! (1962)
Same as above.
- Without Tears (film)
It tells the story and everything but it seems poorly made, just sort of half-cobbled together. I hope when they make a film about me some day, it's better than this one.
